Our Classrooms
Each of our classrooms is geared towards a particular age group and is set up to accommodate different ways to learn and explore. The classrooms are aesthetically pleasing and functional for children. Scarborough Children’s Academy believes that using Education Stations allows the teachers to intentionally teach at a developmental stage that is appropriate for your child.

Our Curriculum
Scarborough Children’s Academy participates in the Maine’s Road to Quality program, 5210 program, and Rising Stars for ME. We use a curriculum that is based on weekly themes, The Creative Curriculum, The Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (MELDS), children’s interest and the knowledge & experience of our talented teachers. We concentrate on 5 domains of development and learning which are Social, Emotional, Language, Cognitive and Physical.

EDUCATION STATION

EDUCATION STATIONS are introduced in the Toddler classroom. While observing different Toddler classrooms over our combined 74 years of experience, we noticed the “typical” set up lacked at providing many things needed for the children to interact and play in a calm, peaceful, positive manner. At times they seemed over-stimulated with toys, dumping them all together and then losing interest. Some children that were involved in play were interrupted by their peers or had an activity knocked over. How many times has a child become frustrated because they can not fit a toy on the shelf, the play area is too overstimulated or they need to put their toys away and are not finished playing? Unfortunately with a “typical” classroom set up, this can happen too often but with EDUCATION STATIONS it does not.
Our Partnership with Families
Scarborough Children’s Academy is committed to establishing a partnership with all families. This is essential for a successful journey with us. Communication is necessary and can be done in a variety of ways:
Notes Through the Brightwheel App
Can be done throughout the day. We release all the information such as diapers, potty, food, and activities to families at the close of school.

Scheduled Meeting
this is a great method if more time is needed to discuss things
At Drop Off & Pick up Times
This is a great time to relay information about their night or day. Please keep in mind that many families could be dropping off/ picking up at the same time.
Portfolios
Children learn and grow so much in a short amount of time. They are demonstrating new skills and development constantly. One way we can share this growth with families is by creating a portfolio for your child. In the portfolio it will have art projects, observations, basic assessments and pictures of them through the year. Each time they move up to another room, a new portfolio will begin. You will receive them once they graduate or move from Scarborough Children’s Academy.
